Sottilili fili di perle
le adornano i capelli... rosse stelle di corallo ne fermano qualche ciocca, occhi verdi/
blu e corpo sinuoso… Galatea è solita fluttuare nelle profondità del Mediterraneo,
fra quel tratto mare compreso fra l’assolata Sicilia e l'isola di Capri ..... La
tradizione Italiana ed anche la mitologia la descrivono come la più bella fra le 3 sirene
italiane più note ed anche la più romantica ed innamorata… Omero ne fa cenno
nell'Iliade , ma il mito del suo amore per il pastore siciliano Aci è ancora più antico
ed è spesso raccontato dai nostri pescatori in Sicilia. Il mito narra che Galatea si
fosse innamorata di Aci, un giovane bellissimo pastore, e che il ciclope Polifemo,
invidioso del giovane e a sua volta innamorato della ninfa, un giorno,avendo sorpreso la
coppia di amanti, scagliò infuriato un enorme masso che raggiunse Aci, uccidendolo….
Galatea, per tenere in vita il suo amore, trasformò il sangue di Aci in una sorgente e
lui stesso divenne un dio fluviale… Si dice che Galatea e Aci possano così
incontrarsi tutti i giorni nel mare ed amarsi per sempre…. Galatea è il simbolo
dell’amore eterno e della bellezza delle nostre terre e del nostro mare, generoso
ancora oggi di corallo, meravigliosi vasi antichi e di incantevoli leggende….

curls,blue greens eyes and a sinuous body... Galatea the mermaid, whose name means
"milk-White", still swims in the depths of the Mediterranean sea, in the waters
between the sunny Sicily and the Isle of Capri....The italian tradition as well as the
mythology describe her like the most beautiful of the three Italian mermaids, the most
romantic and passionate...Omero mentioned her in his masterpiece " Iliade ", and
you can also read abour her In Ovid's Metamorphoses, but the myth of her love story is
even older, and you can still hear it from our fishermen of Sicily. The myth tells that
the sicilian nymph Galatea felt in love with the young and handsome shepherd Aci,but the
cyclops Polyphemus, in love with the nymph and jealous of the young sheperd, one day took
the two lovers by surprise and, furious, threw a huge rock agains Aci, killing him.
To keep her lover alive, Galatea transformed his blood in the sources of a river, In this
way, when the Aci river flows into the sea, Galatea the mermaid and Aci the spirit of the
river can hug in the sea and love each other forever. Galatea represents the everlasting
love, the beauty of our land and sea, so plentiful of coral, incredible antique treasures,
